The Rivers State Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has rejected the reported resignation of the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Walid Jibrin.

Wike made his position known at Ahoada Town, Thursday, September 8th, while commissioning/flagging off the Ahoada Campus of the Rivers State University.

Reacting to the resignation of Walid as BoT chairman, to be replaced by a southerner, Wike stated that the constitutional role of the BoT is advisory and not as important like the chairmanship position of the party.

He stressed that he would continue to stand against the North holding the two most important positions in a political party, which according to him is; ‘the chairmanship and presidential candidacy’.

The POS Africa pointed out that his fight is not personal but against injustice, inequity. He said unless the party does the right thing, it will lose the General Elections come 2023.

His words: “Am just informed that the BoT Chairman has resigned. But nobody is talking about that, his role is just advisory and nothing more.

“What I stand against is the North having the national chairmanship and presidential candidate, while the South has nothing. These two positions take decisions in the party.

“Except this abnormality is corrected, PDP will lose in the general elections come 2023. It is not about me. We are talking of justice, fair play and equity.

The governor revealed that what pained him most is that the party presidential candidate paid him a visit after his victory, where according to him, the national chairman would be asked to resign to make way for a Southerner and wondered why that gentleman agreement had been jettisoned.

On payment of compensation to those whose crops and houses were affected, the governor said; “I will never pay any compensation to anybody.

“I can not pay for my property. Those land were government lands that people wrongfully acquired.

It would be recalled that Atiku’s and Wike’s camps have been at loggerheads after the party’s national convention with claims and counter claims by each camp.
