Elder British Amgbari, has called for mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence amongst traders in Swali Ultra Modern Market, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Amgbari, who is the acting chairman of the market, made the call against the backdrop of perceived crisis in the market union, while fielding questions from journalists in his office, Tuesday, July 12th, added that they do not go to the market to make trouble but to take care of their families in need.

He explained that some people who are not real traders usually go into the market to instigate few persons to cause problems, noting that the bonafide traders have no factions.

His words: “We should unite as traders. We do not come here to make trouble. We come here to find how we can take care of our families and brothers in need.”

He urged all aggrieved traders to come for a roundtable discussion, for an amicable settlement.

“As a leader, i call on everyone to a roundtable, to know their problems. When they state their problems, we will settle ourselves,” Amgbare assured.

The new market leader assured the public of adequate security measures that will guarantee safety of all within the market at all times.

On those that sell outside the confine of the market, he said; “They are illegal. Because, they are not under our control.

“We are going to liaise with the ministry and governmental agencies to do something about the outside traders,” he said.

The new Swali Ultra Modern Market Union’s executive was appointed and inaugurated on Monday, July 11th, by the State government.
