Bayelsa State Owned Media Houses to Get New Edifice

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayiba Crowther Duba has disclosed that a befitting edifice is to be built for state owned-media.
The Commissioner made the remarks during his maiden tour of the state-owned media houses which includes, Bayelsa State Newspaper Corporation, Bayelsa State Broadcasting Corporation and the Niger Delta Television.
The Commissioner, who acknowledged the challenges of office accommodation and decaying facilities confronting the media houses, announced that government is in the process of constructing a two-storey multi-purpose complex at Ekeki to accommodate the three media houses
He revealed that plans were already in top gear for the construction at the current site of Radio Bayelsa with the architectural drawings completed, while the bill of quantity is being evaluated by the Ministry of Works.
Hon. Duba enjoined the media houses to ensure that the public is properly informed about government policies and programmes since it plays a pivotal role in propagating government policies and programmes to enlist public participation and acceptance.
Duba also urged members of staff to respect hierarchy in the service to promote a cordial working relationship , noting that all the state-owned media houses would be provided with the needed equipment within available limited resources to improve productivity.
In their separate remarks, the Acting General Manager, NDTV, Mr. Fred Fabor and his counterpart of Radio Bayelsa, Mrs. Pere Hobobo and that of Newspaper Corporation, Mr. Ebi Evinson lauded the Commissioner for the visit and pledged to key into the vision of the prosperity government.
