An All Progressives Congress, APC support coalition, Consolidated APC Support Group, COASUG, has stated that Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s return to the party would stabilize it.

COASUG stressed that Abe, being a bridge builder, with a ditribalized mien would bring in his crowd of supporters all over to make things work for the ailing party in the state.

The group, which made its position known Wednesday, January 3, in a press release signed by the Director General, Hon Harrison Asuquo Sam and Rivers State Co-ordinator, Hon. Prince Dickson Cookey and made available to journalists, hinted that Abe’s reentrance into APC will balance the power equation that seem to have bedevilled the party over the years.

It urged Senator Magnus Ngei Abe to forget what led to his exit from the party and focus on how to bring his wealth of experience to reposition it against wrestling political power from the opposition PDP.

While enjoining members to receive the former senator with open arms, it called on the party leaders to see the past as a bygone and resist the temptations of victimizing real and perceived opponents within the fold, instead, the group said, ‘the real opponents are of the opposition party. So, crafts, skills, contacts and connections be collectively pooled together and be deployed against the opposition, than using it to scatter the party.”

The statement further called on all party leaders to come together in unity for the sake of the party and teeming supporters, positing that Abe’s coming back to the party be positively utilized than letting it polarize the party, it added that politics is about numerical strength, anchored on social justice.

The press release read: “COASUG heartily welcomes Senator Magnus Ngei Abe back to his political family, the APC. We appreciate him, especially for his realization of the fact that water used to bath a baby can not be disposed with the baby, because of its dirt as a result of the bathing.

“We are convinced that your come back would assist in stabilizing the party, as a grassroot and detribalized
politician, with much experience in the political terrain.

“We, also call on members of the party to shun acts of antagonism to the Senator, and instead give him an open embrace of welcome, to encourage and inspire him go extra mile to work for the party.

“COASUG also call on party leaders to join hands in unity to explore available political and legal means of wrestling power from the opposition party, PDP, in the state.”

COASUG is a coalition of about 200 APC support groups that stands for good governance.
