RIVERS KILLING: LGA Chairman Commiserates Bereaved Family . . . Warns Perpetrators Of Consequences

by Akpoebi SamsonThe Executive Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Barr. Chief Ben Israel Eke, has commiserated with the families of five persons killed last Sunday, November 12, in Odiemerenyi community.
Eke, who in a press release signed by himself, described the act as dastardly, warned perpetrators to desist henceforth.
He hinted that the government would not fold its arms and watch hapless citizens be murdered in their homes.
He urged the people to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands in the face of the seeming provocation, assuring that his government would do everything possible to ensure that those behind the killing face justice.
The LGA Boss in the release also called on the security agencies to increase their intelligence gathering network, so lives and properties would be secured.
He stated that the people should be rest assured that the forces of goodwill will surely overcome the evil.
The release reads: “My attention has been drawn to the gruesome killing of five persons at Odiemerenyi community in the early hours of Sunday, 12th of November 2023.
“I sincerely send my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the perpetrators of this
dastardly act to desist forthwith, as government will not fold its arm and watch hapless citizens murdered in their homes. Life is irreparable and no one is permitted to take the life of another.
“As a government, we urge all to remain calm and not to take laws into their hands as government will use everything within its powers to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly acts will face justice.
“I also call on security agencies to improve their security architecture in intelligence gathering, securing lives and property and also fish out the killers of our people. The forces of good will surely overcome that of evil.”
Barr. Eke urged the people to remain peaceful and law-abiding for the development of our land, stressing that violence brings no good to any community, rather it brings destruction and backwardness.
