Ekpeye Wrestling 2022 Aimed To Unite The People – Hon Nwoka . . . No Political Affiliation In Tradition

The chairman, Ekpeye Wrestling Match 2022, Hon. Edmund Nwoka says that the essence of the event, coming up on Thursday, August 25th, is to bring the people together in unity.
Nwoka, who was fielding questions from journalists at the palace of Eze Igbu Ubie kingdom, Thursday, August 11th, added that another high point of the event is to showcase the importance of wrestling in Ekpeye culture.
His words; “The whole benefit of this wrestling is to bring people together in unity.
“It will also highlight the place of wrestling in Ekpeye culture, amongst other benefits.”
He explained that the committee is saddled with the responsibility of helping to organize a befitting all inclusive wrestling match that would foster unity in the land.
The committee chairman responding to a question on the possibility of bringing Ekpeye sons and daughters of different political leaning, said: “Tradition knows no politics. And that is one of the things the event aims to achieve.
“People most time, erroneously and ignorantly do not understand where and when the draw the line between politics and ordinary living. They tend to politicize everything.
“This is appalling. It is, to say the least, disappointing. Tradition which is basically a way of life of a particular people or tribe supposed to be distinctly different from politics, which ordinarily is just a form of government or governance.
Nwoka called on the people to change the narrative, which according to him; ‘is the panacea needed for development of the people and land,’ describing it as achievable with commitment and determination.
He hinted that the event is singularly conceived and sponsored by King Salvation Ezegwogwo, JP, who doubles as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahoada East Local Government Area Chapter chairman, who according to him is passionate for the human capital and infrastructural development of the people and the land.
The committee chairman further stated that the event would be chaired by the Executive Chairman of Ahoada East, Hon Barr. Ben Eke and co-chaired by his Ahoada West counterpart, Evang. Dr. Hope Ikiriko, with the Ekpeye monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Eze Dr. Amb. Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, JP, AP, Eze Ekpeye Logbo III and Eze Igbu Ubie, Eze Igbu Igbuduya, Eze Igbu Akoh, Eze Igbu Upata with Eze Igbu Ehuda Kingdoms, as Royal Fathers of the day, added that other dignitaries would grace the epoch event.
