BAYELSA:The Post Primary Schools Board (PPSB), Bayelsa State, has distributed over 45 science practical materials to public schools for the forth National Examination Council (NECO).
The materials were provided by the State Government as part of its developmental stride to improve on the standard of education.
Engr Digiteme Innocent Eteli, Board member in charge of Science and Technology, who shared the materials at St Jude’s Secondary School, Amarata, Yenagoa local government area, called on principals and students to make good use of the materials optimally to improve on past result.
He commended the state government for placing premium on education.
According to him; “The message to the principals and students is government under this difficult time has placed premium on education, that is why these provisions are made. So, is the place of the principals and students to ensure that these materials are used optimally, to increase or upgrade the result we had last year and turn out better result for this year.”
He hinted that the foundation of good engineering is at the secondary level, stressing that, that informed government investing so much on Science and Vocational education, adding that the state will produce better engineers if the tempo is sustained.
Also speaking, the principal of Community Secondary School, Oruma in Ogbia Local Government Area, Mr Obi Sunny Julius, promised to safe guard the equipments.
He explained that the equipments will not just be useful in the forthcoming NECO exam but beyond.
“This science equipment is not only meant for this forthcoming examination, but for subsequent once. We are going to use it for teaching our students, to have idea on how they can be able to use it to enhance their learning.”
The principal further commended the state government for its compassion on education, opined that he believes the equipments provided will build a strong interest on the students in such a way that little ideas given to them will be useful.
