AIG Zone 16 To Provide Operational Logistics for Bayelsa Police Command

The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, in charge of Zone 16, Mr Austin Agbonlahor has promised to assist the Bayelsa State Police command in its area of needs.

The AIG made this known on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in Yenagoa, during his tour of the Bayelsa State Police Command.

Agbonlahor disclosed that he would look into the matter of the needs of the command critically.

He assured that he would make the police command in Bayelsa meet up its expectations in terms of need.

According to him, “Operational logistics would be surely looked into for the interest of the command and the general public.

Earlier in his address, the Bayelsa State Commissioner, Mr Mike Okoli, commended the AIG for his tour to the command headquarters.

Okoli emphatically informed the AIG that the command under him has charged the officers and men to ensure that the reduction of crime and criminality to acceptable levels remains their target.

The CP declared; “We shall strive to ensure that crime do not take place in Bayelsa State.

“We must respond promptly, pursue the hoodlums, apprehend them and ensure speedy prosecution.

“We have promptly arrested one of the gang leaders of the Azikoro Church killing and recovered an AK47 rifle.

“Kidnaped victims have been rescued and united with their families. Kidnap attempts have been foiled and suspects arrested.

“Senatorial By-Election, primary elections were successfully supervised without security breached.”

The Commissioner, stressed that the major problem facing the command remains shortage of manpower, stating that since the creation of the command in 1996, the establishment strength is yet to be attained.

He identified other problems as acute shortage of operational vehicles, motorcycle and gun boats, amongst others.
