The planned industrial action by labour unions scheduled to take place on Monday, September 28 may not hold as a court has stopped the unions from doing so.

The court also granted an interim injunction restraining the unions, their affiliates , privies from disrupting, restraining, picketing or preventing workers or ordinary Nigerians from accessing their offices to work on the 28th September, 2020 or any other date.

The order was made following an ex-parte application through the counsel of Incorporated Trustees of Peace and Unity Ambassadors Association, Sanusi Musa.

Justice Galadima also granted an order compelling Director General, Department of State Services (DSS) to protect workers going about their legitimate duties from intimidation and harassment by the agents of the unions pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had planned to embark on a strike on Monday, September 28, 2020 over the recent hike in the price of petrol and an increase of electricity tariff.
