An Ekpeye traditional music performer , Don Pedro M. Umasara , has warned that traditional music may go extinct if nothing is done to promote and preserve it.
The traditional musician, who is also known as Anabolochi 1 of Ekpeye Land, said he is currently the only musician performing the genre of music, and appreciated High Chief Salvation Ezegwogwo for encouraging the promotion of traditional music in the kingdom.

He called on other privileged individuals from Ekpeye extraction to also sponsor musicians from the kingdom to promote traditional music.
“One person cannot do it alone. I am a civil servant and my earning alone cannot promote music, so I need sponsors, not only Ezegwogwo because I am promoting Ekpeye culture,” he stated.
He further said that if the challenge of sponsorship is tackled the kingdom has promising upcoming artistes that would produce good music.
He advised young musicians who are interested in the kind of music he performs to come to him for tutelage , so that he would have a successor when he passes away.
