EOG Poised To Change Ekpeye Women Narrative – Barr. Nwugo
2 min readThe National Women Leader of Ekpeye Oil and Gas Pipelines Host Families Association (EOG), Barr. Rosemary Nwugo, has promised Ekpeye women that the body is prepared and working towards changing their narrative.
Nwugo gave the promise during an interactive session with women on Thursday, 24th of September 2020.
She added that the only thing needed for them is to exhibit patience, understanding.
She told them to shun any act that would portray them as inferior, sub human or beast of burden.
The women leader charged them to be more industrious and focused, as according to her, “Only a determined heart can achieve growth and development”.
She noted that they cannot experience change, except they change some age long erroneous perception on the girl-child.
“We can’t achieve the needed change if we on our own do not change our mindset when it comes to the girl child. We must accept their mistakes, whether on early unplanned child birth or otherwise.
“We must give them future, for them to realize the goals nature has kept for them.
“Their mistakes should not be used as an obstacle. We must continue to encourage them. Some of them could turn into our family pillar of strength”, she explained.
Nwugo vowed that the era when women are subjected to position of full time wives and children breeding machines are gone, adding that Ekpeye women will be gainfully engaged as mapped out by EOG.
She further informed the physically challenged that the group also has good plans for them, which she added, would soon be unfolded.
The National Women Leader enjoined other stakeholders in Ekpeye ethnic nation to embrace the change EOG has brought for maximal benefits than to stand as stumbling blocks, assuring that EOG is for all Ekpeye Sons and Daughters with the sole aim of reducing hardship through the meaningful engagement and employment of People in the Oil and Gas Industry.
The National Chairman, Comrade Dogini Chidi, earlier called on the oil and gas companies operating in Ekpeye land to come for remediation, since according to him, “The land has suffered much pollution due to facility failure and flaring”.
Dogini appealed to the Elites and traditional rulers to be rest assured of the genuineness of the group in agitating for the wellbeing of Ekpeye people, as we are equipped educationally to bring our People out from enslavement in the Oil and Gas Sector.
“This body is poised to over haul the system that is characterized by rot from the oil and gas companies against Ekpeye interest. It must be stopped and corrected.
“No genuine person should be scared. We are not out to witch hunt anyone but to right the wrings, for Ekpeye land and its people to benefit from God given resources”, he declared
