MOTHERS’ DAY: I Run a Gender Friendly Government, Says Ahoada East Chairman . . . Urges Mothers To Remain Ambassadors Of Peace

The Executive Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Barr. Ben Eke, has stated that he runs an inclusive government which women are given opportunities to contribute towards the development of the LGA.
Eke gave the hint during an interview with journalists in commemoration of this year’s Mothers’ Day at Ahoada Town, Sunday, March 10, affirming that women are worth been invested on.
Expatiating on his government’s gender friendliness, the Council Boss said; “I acknowledged the sensitive nature of the women folks, being our mothers, sisters and wives. They are special breeds that can not be totally ignored in all ramifications.
“That is why I gave them appointments as supervisory councillors. I appoint them into committees and also, I encouraged them to be active in politics and wherever they found themselves.”
The Council chairman throwing more light said; “Ninety four per cent of beneficiaries in my government sponsored skills acquisition are women.
“During the LGA sports festival, women played vital roles in making the event a huge success.
He called on the beneficiaries of the LGA sponsored skills acquisition programme to put into use what that have learnt in order to reduce the pressure in the family.
He appealed to the mothers not to abdicate their responsibilities as symbols of unity and peace ambassadors in the society, adding that their neutral stand on issues, whether family, community or political would go a long way to assuage nerves and heal wounds.
The Orashi Mayor thanked mothers for their continuous commitment, show of care and showers of love even in the face of the economic challenges that has bedevilled the nation.
The LGA chairman prayed that God Almighty would continue to strengthen and keep the genuine Mothers to reap the fruits of their children.
