1 min readMr Patrick Areghan, the Head of National Office, West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) announced that some supervisors were arrested by the body for leaking questions to the candidates before the commencement of the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Mr Patrick in his monitoring visit to some schools in Yaba, Lagos State, told the exam candidates to desist from examination malpractice. His visit was to monitor that the students and teachers complied with the COVID19 safety measures.
He said, “Students shouldn’t go looking for anything called expo. It is an eyesore, supervisors collecting question papers from WAEC and going somewhere to open the questions. We caught one supervisor in Nasarawa. They don’t know we have a way of detecting them. We caught another supervisor in Bauchi. We detected it from here. In Port Harcourt, another was arrested for the same thing.”
The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku revealed that a student from one of the schools in the state alleged that the principal allowed the students to cheat after collecting money from the them.
