YENAGOA: The Host Community of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSCOM) has assured the Youths of Bayelsa State that the training of 1,000 Youths by the Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in different skills will commence next month
The disclosure was made by its Bayelsa State Chapter Chairman, His Royal Highness, King Boma Albert Kerekebunah, Atakparamor-OtuMor VII during a media briefing at the HOSCOM Secretariat Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
kerekebunah who alleged that some persons in the State are bent on hijacking the training programme for their selfish desire of splitting the 1,000 chances among themselves in order to sabotage the training.
The HOSCOM Boss said; “Since last year because of this training, we have been fighting, now they said we are selling forms for #35,000. They blackmailed us, so that they can hijack the job, they wanted to split the job to themselves.
“The Executive Secretary of NCDMB is a very good man. They said his Ogbia King wrote the petition that we are selling forms to individuals, myself and the Elders Council. We went to the number one King, we met him, he gave us a delegate to go to Content Board, to see Angela Okoro. We went there, she said really we are innocent, we should go and be doing our normal accreditation.
“We are going to start the training by first week of next month (June), they assured us they are going to do the training here(Yenagoa).Security Agencies should be aware we are not selling forms, whoever that is selling form should be arrested.
The State Chairman of the Elders Council, Chief Richard Arimebogha, while speaking to newsmen commended Engr. Simbi Wabote led Board for initiating the programme.
He however frowned at some Bayelsans who find pleasure in sabotaging efforts that will empower Youths of the State.
“We thank God because Simbi (Executive Secretary) is our son and he believes our youths are surfering that is why he approved 1,000 training skills to Bayelsa Youths. After the training, there will be a starter pack for all of you, and you will start something with the money.
“By the special grace of God, we are going to support Simbi 100% and the Content Board be rest assured, we are going to be transparent enough and everybody will benefit.
In his contribution, the Secretary, Elders Council, Hon Akenge commended the youths for being peaceful but condemned the act of Bayelsans who find joy in distrupting good things.
“Unfortunately, i want to say I don’t know why is it that any time good things want to come, we Bayelsans will spoil it. I don’t know why is so.
“This thing we are getting today, if not for this saboteurs we would have started it long ago because other States that are not producing oil are benefiting from our oil. They said we don’t have schools, we are lazy people, but we are not lazy people. It’s because we have not had the opportunity. Sure, very sure that after this programme, they will know that Bayelsans are not lazy.”
