GIRL-CHILD: Bayelsa Journalist Launches Foundation

A Bayelsa based Journalists, Eunice Nnachi, has launched a Girl-Child and Women advocacy foundation.

The foundation, which was launched over the weekend in Yenagoa, will serve as a voice for the voiceless and add value to the lives of women and girl child in the state.

According to the Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Eunice Nnachi, who also used the occasion to celebrate her birthday, explained that the decision to establish the foundation has given birth to a new dawn and the vision for women advocacy in the State.

She pointed out that, Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, ENWAF was berthed out of her desire and passion to add value and improve the lives of women and girls in the society.

It was twin celebration at the weekend as the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, ENWAF, Lady Eunice Nnachi, formally launched her foundation, and also celebrated her birthday.

The twin celebration attracted friends, family, well wishers, people of like minds, and gender advocates in celebrating with Lady Nnachi, who they described as a journalist per excellence, a goal getter, a focused and determined woman, a voice for the voiceless, who prides in adding value to the lives of women and girls.

Encomium poured in from the Ministry of women affairs, International Federation of Female Lawyers, FIDA Bayelsa, STARZ Safety Initiative SSI, Nigerian Association of Female Journalists, NAWOJ Bayelsa, Federated Correspondent Chapel, FCC amongst others.

In her good will message, a Director in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Yabrifa Felicia Owei, assured of the Ministry’s support and partnership with the foundation, and commended Lady Eunice for a well thought out vision of reaching out to the less privileged women and girls in the society, while wishing her well and more wins in her chosen path.

Chairperson of Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Bayelsa, Barr Deme Pamoso, appreciated the Grace of God upon the life of the CEO of ENWAF, and lauded her for towing the path of championing the cause of women and girls, while promising to embrace the foundation and give it the needed support.

Barr Pamoso pointed out that empowering women and girls ensures a better society, and prayed God to give lady Eunice Nnachi the wisdom, enablement, and funding to sustain the vision.

Also speaking, chairperson NAWOJ Bayelsa, Mrs Grace Orumieyefa, represented by the treasurer, Mrs Barbara Omosuku, described the ENWAF founder as a passionate and dedicated woman, and assured of NAWOJ Bayelsa collaboration with the foundation in order to ensure that women take their place in society, and become a formidable force to reckon with.

On her part, a very excited and appreciative Lady Eunice Nnachi thanked God Almighty for a new dawn and the vision of ENWAF.

She explained that ENWAF was berthed out of her desire and passion to add value and improve the lives of women and girls in the society.

Nnachi, who corresponds for Nigerian Pilot Newspaper, informed the gathering that the objectives of the foundation include promoting gender equality, empowerment of women and girls, mentoring programmes, organizing outreach in communities to eradicate oppressive cultural practices, among others.

The ENWAF founder also promised to embrace the boy child advocacy, stressing that a lot of ills in the society would have been averted if the boy child received proper home training.

While calling on parents to step up their responsibility of infusing the right morals in the boy child and give them proper mentoring, stressing that by so doing, societal ills will be reduced to the barest minimum.
