The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Dr Samuel Ogbuku, has faulted claims by the Bayelsa State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the party controls the state with a stolen mandate from the All Progressives Congress.

The NDDC boss stated this on Saturday, April 15, after casting his vote in his country home, Ayakoro community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State in the Ogbia constituency ll State Assembly re-run election,.

He opined that the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state would determine which party is on ground and has the interest of the people.

Ogbuku posited that the stealing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) mandate by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019, APC would have been the party ruling the state by now.

According to him: “If you say Bayelsa State is a PDP state, APC won the last elections, though the PDP snatched it from us. So you cannot say it is a PDP state. Maybe, by the next governorship election, that is when we will know which party won the election.”

He applauded the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the introduction of the Bimodal Verification Accreditation System (BVAS) ,adding that the BVAS did not waste time in capturing him.

Reacting to a question on late arrival of electoral materials to the polling units, he said; ”I think the materials arrived late because they are coming all the way from Yenagoa this morning. The materials did not arrive at the RAC centre last night because of the security situation.”

Chief Ogbuku, who is also the Deputy Paramount Ruler of his community, explained that “As you can see the community is very peaceful and the people have conducted themselves and ready to vote for candidate of their choice and we know at the end of the day the result will be favourable to our candidate.“
