I’ll Operate On Police IG’s Agenda On Professionalism, Strategic Planning – AIG Zone 16

The new Assistant Inspector General (AIG)
of Police, Nigeria Police Zonal Command, Zone 16 headquarters, Yenagoa, AIG Benjamin N. Okolo, has assured the public that he would perform his duties based on the Inspector General of Police agenda on professionalism and strategic planning.
In a press release signed by the command’s Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), CSP Ikwo Kevin Lafieghe, for the AIG and made available to journalists, the new Police Chief promised to bring to bear his wealth of experience in his supervisory discharge of duty.
He appeals for co-operation and support from residents and people of Rivers and Bayelsa States to enable him achieve the optimal goal of policing.
It reads: “I hereby supplicates the full co-operation and support of the good people of Bayelsa and Rivers States to enable him bring to bear his extensive knowledge and proven skills in policing in line with the Inspector General of Police agenda on professionalism and strategic planning.”
The release according to the ZPPRO, CSP Lafieghe is to inform members of the public, that upon the recent meritorious retirement of AIG Eboka Friday, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba Usman, has appointed AIG Benjamin N. Okolo, as the new Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 16 headquarters, yenagoa Bayelsa State.
The release further stated that: “AIG Benjamin Okolo was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992 and holds a B.Sc (Hons) Degree in Political Science from University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
“He is a seasoned Officer of repute and a distinguished fellow of the Defence College.
“In the course of his career as a Police Officer, the AIG has served at different capacities in all strata of the force and sequel to his elevation and posting to the Headquarters of Zone 16, Yenagoa, he was the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Police Command and a one-time member of the Presidential Committee on SARS Reform due to his ardent believe in Police reform and professionalism.”
