Civil Society Coalition (LASCO) has regrouped to mobilise more support for the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential elections.

The group according to our investigation are reactivating its structures across the 36 states of the country based on its belief that Peter Obi stands taller than the rest of the presidential candidates in areas of prudence, accountability and economic reinvigoration.

According to the state former secretary, LASCO, Comrade Tony Erha said the Edo State chapter is filling its vacant official positions,

Comrade Erha, who convened the meeting on behalf of the national Executive of LASCO at the Labour Party state secretariat, Benin, the Edo State Capital, regretted that there had been some breaks in the once vibrant watchdog activities of LASCO, hence the present moves to reactivate it nationwide.

He harped on the immediate need for LASCO and its teeming members to brace up, reactivate its usual grassroots activities and work tirelessly for the election of Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed as president and vice president, while assuring all that LASCO is capable of enacting nationwide the same potent winning supports it once gave to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, in winning the governorship elections of Edo and Ondo States respectively.

Also Speaking during the meeting, Comrade Fred Akhere, current Secretary of the Edo State chapter of the party, who spoke on behalf of its chairman, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, urged LASCO to gear up its votes canvassing ability at the state, local government and ward levels while calling on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to come and occupy their positions in the LP’s executive.

Those elected into acting positions of the body, include Comrade Peter Agbonkhese, Gabriel Ehiaguina and Mrs. Hilda Ogbe as chairman, secretary and treasurer.
