A media group, the International Press Centre (IPC) has called on security agencies to unravel the circumstances that have led to the sudden disappearance of the Vanguard’s reporter at the House of Representatives.

IPC Executive Director, Lanre Arogundade, in a statement yesterday, Monday, October 18th, appealed to the government and the security agencies to do all within their powers to locate Salem.

In his words: “Salem’s disappearance is disconcerting and the search for him should be accorded high priority by the police and other security agencies.

“In a country where the rights of journalists and media professionals are continuously violated, concerted efforts by relevant stakeholders are necessary to ensure Mr. Salem returns to his family and beat safely, and that the safety of other journalists and media professionals is guaranteed.”

Salem was reportedly sighted last at a filling station, opposite the FCT Police Headquarters Wednesday evening.

The editor of the Vanguard newspaper, Eze Anaba, confirmed yesterday, Monday, October 18th, that Salem was yet to be found.

The reporter has been missing since last Wednesday.
