NIGERIAN IDOL SEASON 6: Winner Bags Scholarship Award

YENAGOA: Bayelsa State Government has awarded scholarship to the winner of the just concluded Nigerian Idol season six, Mr Kingdom Kroseide.

Governor Douye Diri made the pronouncement on Friday when he received Kingdom and his team in Government House, Yenagoa.

Governor Diri also appointed Kingdom as an ambassador to youths in Bayelsa State.

Diri, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Daniel Alabrah, advised the youths of the state to put in their best in whatever they do in order to be successful in life.

His words, “In appreciation of the honour you have brought to Bayelsa, I hereby announce that you are on the scholarship of the Bayelsa State Government. As you finish your first degree and as you proceed for your Masters, the scholarship will also be extended to your Masters.”

“You will be an ambassador of the youths of Bayelsa State. Let me use this opportunity to call on all the youths of Bayelsa State to see Mr Timi Kingdom Kroseidei as a role model. As one who out of hard work and the grace of God has brought honour to the state. I am sure that putting yourselves in legitimate careers,you will bring honour not only to yourselves, but to your state and country”

While appreciating the winner for the honour done to the state, Diri advised him to strike a balance between his academics and his career, adding that with proper education and the grace of God,he would excel in his chosen career even outside the shores of Nigeria.

He also advised Kingdom to continue to use his music to praise God in order to move to greater heights.

The Governor, who noted that the success story of Kingdom was that of all Nigerians, thanked the judges of the contest, the Nigerian Military School Old Boys Association and Nigerians for the various roles they played that led to the emergence of the Bayelsa State contestant as winner.

He also urged the relevant ministries and agencies to put modalities in place to establish music school to harness the musical talents, which he noted, abound in the state.

Earlier, Kingdom attributed his success to the grace of God and hard work.

He thanked the Bayelsa State Government, Bayelsans and Nigerians for their support which enabled him to win the contest.

In their separate remarks, representative of the Amananowei of Angalabiri Federated Community, Chief Peres Peretu, and the Manager of Kingdom, Mr Felix Kroseide, thanked the state government and the people for the support that led to Kingdom’s emergence as the winner of the programme.

Peretu appreciated Diri’s leadership style of uniting and galvanizing the support of the people to enable Bayelsans achieve feats.
