In what looks like an unnatural twist, Mrs Gladys Sotonye Ogan has raised alarm over seeming plans by her tenant, Gloria Halliday to take over her property.

The property is situated at Mbonu street, D/Line Port Harcourt, Rivers State belongs to her late husband.

Mrs Ogan while narrating her ordeal revealed that after her husband’s demise in 2017, she met Halliday who is her husband’s tenant at a two bedroom apartment in company of a Pastor and a lawyer to negotiate with her on the way forward.

According to Mrs Ogan, Halliday claimed to have paid the husband rent for five years (2017 to 2022).

She said that the receipt her husband left with her indicated that Halliday rent will expire by 2019 November, not 2022 November.

The widow stated that even the bank statement she obtained from her late husband’s bank is inconsistent with the amount Halliday claimed she paid into the account of her late husband as the five year rent.

Mrs Ogan explained that  Halliday later wrote to her through a lawyer that she do not know her(Mrs ogan), describing her as an imposter.

She further disclosed that Halliday through the lawyer asked her (Ogan) to bring letter of administration/letter of introduction, husband’s Will and death certificate that confirms she is the next of kin of her deceased husband in respect to the property.

Mrs Ogan explained; “After i obtained legal documents to administer my late husband’s property and forwarded same to Halliday’s number, she has not responded up till this moment, she has refused to come forward to tender her own bank statement and other evidence to buttress her claim for five year rent payment.

“My insistence for Halliday to bring her own bank statement is hinged on the fact that the receipt she (Halliday) tendered which captured the purported payment for period of 2017 to 2022 is full of inconsistency as compared to the receipt my late husband showed me before his death which expired 2019.

“I am calling on well meaning Nigerians and the Government to help me prevail on Halliday to vacate my late husband’s property. I wonder if she (Halliday) wants to take over the property.”

The mother of three children aged 13, 12 and 7 years old respectively lamented the untold hardship she is passing through as a result of alleged refusal of Halliday to vacate the property.

Efforts to get Gloria Halliday’s side of the story proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.

She neither picked her calls, nor responded to text and WhatsApp chat by our Reporter.
