REFINERIES: Oil Unions Call For Kyari’s Sack
1 min readThree unions in the Nigeria’s oil sector have called on the Federal Government to sack the Nigerian National Petroleum Coporation Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari.
The unions are the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association, IPMAN; and the Independent Marketers branch of NUPENG.
The protesters carried placards and banners bearing several inscriptions outside the Port Harcourt Refinery complex.
The unions are demanding the removal of the Group Managing Director of NNPC
Mele Kyari by President Muhammadu Buhari, over alleged incompetence.
Chairman of IPMAN, PHRC Unit, Comrade Obelle Ngechu, said the GMD of NNPC should be sacked for his inability to fix the nation’s four refineries.
While the Chairman of PTD, PHRC Unit, Johnbosco Bosco, said the non-functioning of the nation’s four refineries had brought untold hardship to over 10million Nigerians who depend on the refineries and depots for survival.
On his part, Chairman of Independent Marketers branch of NUPENG, Comrade Uche Stanley, warned that the union will embark on strike if their demand to fix the nation’s refineries are not met by the Federal Government.
