BAYELSA STATE: Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has stated that God is behind the victories he has won in his political career.

Dickson made the statement at his home town, Toru-Orua during a thanksgiving service after his victory in the Peoples Democratic Party Primaries for the forthcoming bye- election for the Bayelsa West Senatorial District vacant position.

He said, “I have no power outside of God in my political career and I do not need occult powers and cult activities to register victories in political battles, as power comes only from God”.

The former Governor, who is vying for the Senatorial seat on the platform of PDP, noted that God used His supremacy to intervene in the affairs of the state to stop the opposition All Progressives Party (APC) from taking over the state.

He asserted that, “The fact that people imported drinks to celebrate the planned APC take over of Bayelsa State, but could not drink them should convince political actors and indeed the citizenry that power comes only from God”.

According to him, in spite of the many challenges he encountered as the governor of the State, he was able to overcome through the help of God.

The governor, who thanked traditional rulers, commisioners and others for affirming his nomination, said the Senatorial election was crucial and of interest to Bayelsa West, Bayelsa and the Ijaw nation, adding that the country expects someone with the capacity to speak for the people.
