VERA OMOZUWA MURDER: Police Parade Suspects

The Edo State Police Command, has paraded six suspects connected to the rape and murder of Vera Omozuwa.

Late Omozuwa, a 100-level student of the University of Benin, was three months ago, found unconscious in a church where she was reported to have gone to read. She was later confirmed dead in the hospital.

While being paraded one of the suspects, Collins Uligbe, from Delta State, stated that her landlady, Mrs Mary Ade, gave them 1 million Naira to kill the undergraduate for ritual purpose.

Colin said, “My Landlady Paid Me N1m To Kill Vera Omozuwa For Ritual.”

Collins, who disclosed that he attends the same church with the victim, added that he was asked by the landlady to wipe Uwaila’s private part with an handkerchief so that she could use it for ritual purposes and prosper in her business.

The landlady, however, denied any involvement in the murder saying, she neither gave money to the suspect nor did she ask him to wipe the lady’s private part.

Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo Identified the suspects as Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs. Tina Samuel, Mrs. Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.

He said “The matter was a great concern to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Muhammed Adamu who sent to us here in Benin, homicide experts to work with our policemen at the state criminal investigation department.

“What we are seeing today, is a result of the uniting efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime and today, I announce to you and making public through this medium that the perpetrators have been arrested.

“The postmortem results had actually confirmed that she was raped”, he said.
