Edo REC Advises Electorate to Shun Violence

Ahead of today’s Governorship Election in Edo State, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commisioner (REC) Dr Johnson Alalibo, has charged voters to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner while exercising their franchise.
Dr Alalibo, who said only the votes of the electorate would determine who becomes Edo State governor, advised voters to stand to ensure that their votes count.
He said “What we want is peace. They should vote in peace and shun electoral violence. They should stand and ensure their votes count, because their votes should determine who should become the governor of Edo State.”
He also advised security men deployed to the State for the election to play by the rules of their engagement.
The REC also disclosed that the Commission is fully prepared for the election as all modalities have been put in place to ensure
a hitch free election.
