The Head of Department, Transportation, Bayelsa State Ministry of Transportation, Mrs. Mary Agbedi , has described the State owned Driving Academy as unique and of high standard.
Agbedi while fielding questions from Newshounds said that the facilities made available for trainees can not be found in any roadside driving school.
She said; “Facilities we have can not be found elsewhere, especially in the roadside driving schools.
“We have stimulators that are used for the first three weeks for new trainees before they are introduced to using real cars.
“Road signs of exact shapes, sizes are used in teaching the trainees.
The HoD assured that the Instructors are specially trained for the purpose which they are undertaking, with tested experience. She added that the academy has enough instructors to handle large number of trainees.
Agbedi was emphatic when asked if the academy issues driving license to trained drivers.
She said; “We do not issue driver’s license here. We only give you certificate of completion of your programme. You use the certificate to get the driver’s license as an evidence that you had learnt the skill of driving. issuance of driver’s license is the prerogative of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC).’
She called on Bayelsans to enroll in the academy for better training result. The HoD added that the fee is affordable.
