Bayelsa State to Embark on Massive Roads Construction

Bayelsa State is set to commence massive roads construction and rehabilitation across the state.
Commisioner for Works and Infrastructure, Estate Surveyor, Moses Teibowei made the statement when the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday, November 5, 2020.
The commissioner, who stated that the State would take cognizance of the perennial flooding ravaging it in recent years in construction of roads, noted that several roads in Yenagoa, the State capital have been earmarked for rehabilitation in the coming dry season.
The Commissioner said that government would embark on elevation work within Radio Bayelsa, NTA and NUJ premises along Azikoro Road in order to tackle the constant flooding experienced in the area.
According to him, apart from the three senatorial roads, government would also give attention to the construction of new roads as well as the completion of the Igbogene/AIT Road.
He also stated that the ongoing remedial work done on the Edepie/Imiringi/Otuasega Bridge was to enable road users ply the road for the meantime, adding that major rehabilitation would be done after the flood.
The works helmsman said his ministry was ready to partner with the media to publicize its activities.
Earlier, Chairman of the NUJ, Comrade Samuel Numonengi, expressed readiness of the Media to publicize the activities of the ministry and appealed to the Commissioner to always carry journalists along in activities of the ministry for balanced and wide reportage.
The NUJ chairman also appealed for the elevation of the Union’s premises to curb the constant flooding experienced whenever it rains.
