A monarch in Rivers State, His Royal Highness, Eze Prince Ike Ehie JP, Eze Igbu Orlukwor II, Eze Ehie II, has cautioned youths of his kingdom and Ekpeye at large to be mindful of the consumption of illicit drugs.
Eze Ehie, who gave the caution while chatting with some Journalists, Friday, July 4, 2025 at his liaison office, Ahoada, emphasized that drug abuse is dangerous to the body system as it had harmed many both physically and mentally.
While insisting that people should take drugs based on prescription by qualified personnel, the Eze added that most youths disrespecting constituted authorities, mentally challenged and experiencing different kinds of illnesses can be linked to the intake or consumption of illicit drugs.
The royal father opined that except government agencies saddled with the responsibilities of arresting the situation synergizes with the traditional institutions and other like-minded organizations, much may not be achieved against the campaign and fight.
He stated that most youths today can do nothing without taking hard drugs, which makes them ‘high’ and hyper elated, not knowing the damages they cause the body.
The Orlukwor Monarch wondered how the youths would take over the mantle of leadership at both communities and federal levels with such uncultured behaviour and repugnant attitudes.
The media chat was anchored based on today’s World Day of Drug Abuse, with the Theme; “Breaking the chains, prevention, treatment and recovery for all.”
