The Supreme Monarch of Ekpeye Ethnic Nation, His Imperial Majesty, Eze Amb. Sir Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, Ph.D, JP, Eze Ekpeye Logbo III, Akalaka XII, has assured the members of the public of total return of peace in his land.
Eze Anugwo, who made the declaration after his return from Ekpeye Ancestral home, Ula Ubie to have a ‘morning quiet time’ with the gods of the land, Saturday, April 26, 2025, hinted that the peace enjoyed today is the product of his promise and other factors.
He advised the people to live in peace and harmony and shun what will trigger any form of crisis in the area.
It would be recalled that the monarch ascended the ancient throne of his forebearers on May 4, 2022 at Ula Ubie, as demanded by Ekpeye custom and tradition.
Other promises he said he made were to attract infrastructural and human capital development and to advance Ekpeye Ethnic Nation globally.
On the vexed Ubeta Gas Treatment Plant Project, he said; “This is one challenge that I must surmount. The gas cannot be extracted from Ekpeye land, while the treatment plant is built in Obite, Egi land. No, it is not acceptable by me and well meaning Ekpeye people.
“The gas treatment plant must be built in Ekpeye Land or it will not be extracted from Ekpeye land. It is an injustice. It is wrong. It is modern day neo-colonialism and not accepted.”
His Imperial Majesty called on Ekpeye sons and daughters that have decided to cede their rights to have a rethink for the sake of the ethnic nation, reiterated that no one tree makes a forest.
He urged the youths and other stakeholders to sustain the prevailing peace, as according to him; ‘there cannot be development without peace.’

The Ekpeye monarch said he has decided to low key this year’s celebration due to the political circumstances in the state.
Highlights of the event that kick started the third coronation anniversary of the Ekpeye monarch was the visit to the house of the eldest man of Ula Ubie community with gifts and a brief reception ceremony by the Ula Ubie community, involving the council of Chiefs, Elders, Women and youths.
