NIGER DELTA: NGOs Unveil Fuel Free Auto-Mobile Equipments, Call For Eco-Friendly Living

Some non governmental organizations have called for an Eco-Friendly living in the Niger Delta region through the use of fuel free automobile machines and inorganic farming methods.

The NGOs, the Global Entrepreneurship City Limited and United Mission For Rural And Urban Community Empowerment in collaboration with the Liberation Movement For Good Governance made the call during the flagg-off ceremony of the GREEN CITY PROJECT tagged: Empowering African Communities.

The project is targeted to enhance eco-friendly living environment and boost local agriculture proceeds for rural growth, such as; providing health benefit to people who have over the years suffered environmental pollution and land degradation.

In his speech during the Empowering African Communities held at the Atrium event centre, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Rev. Dr. Fabeke Douglas, the national coordinator for United Mission For Rural and African Community Empowerment, explained that the Green City project is targeted to bring latest innovations such as fuel free motorcycle, solar generator, pumping machine, fan and batteries amongst others to the Niger Delta.

The initiative being put together by Dr Fabeke and his foreign partners, seek to restore eco-friendly environment and creating economic empowerment by establishing the first smart city inTai local government area of Rivers State.

He revealed that Green City project is aimed at transforming people in the rural areas of Rivers State and Niger Delta region into beacon of sustainable development, ecological restoration and jobs creation.

Fabeke stated that; “The project is more than just an infrastructural endeavour but a movement to redefine progress and prosperity”.

A Turkey-based entrepreneur, Dr. Muhammad Mubarique, delivering his keynote speech, emphasized the need for Africa to embrace entrepreneurship and sustainable farming practices to address food insecurity.

The Assistant Professor stated that the continent has the potential to become the world’s food basket through initiatives that promote innovation in agriculture.

According to him; “It is not all about going to school and becoming a graduate to get employed. How about creating jobs? Until we shift towards entrepreneurship, we will not get it right.”

He further hinted that food insecurity is a national security issue, attributing ongoing challenges to poor farming practices.

He hinted that: “We continue to suffer because we employ outdated methods. Think of eco-friendly agriculture organic farming has less environmental impact.”

Highlights of the event were; the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Rev. Dr. Fabeke Douglas, gifting of Tai, Andoni Local Government Area Executive Chairmen and traditional dance performances by Ogoni Students.
