The Royal Father of Igbu Orlukwor O’ Group Kingdom in Ekpeye Ethnic Nation of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State, His Royal Highness, Eze Prince Ike Ehie JP, Eze Igbu Orlukwor II, Eze Ehie II, has charged community youth bodies and the Igbu Orlukwor Youth Council to conduct peaceful elections.
Eze Ehie gave the charge during an interview with Journalists after his adjudication on electoral issues concerning Ogbele Community youth election, at his Liaison office in Ahoada Town on Friday, November 22, 2024.
He hinted that he has no special interest in whoever wins any positions in youth elections as long as the person is a native of that particular community or Igbu Orlukwor.
The Eze appealed that election, as a constitutional matter, should be conducted in accordance with the rules guiding the electoral process as spelt out in the constitution.
He warned that the big hammer would be used if the peace of any community is threatened as a result of youth elections by banning such community’s youth activities.
In a related development, the Igbu Orlukwor monarch has cautioned youths to desist from taking violent actions that would expose them to ridicule before the laws of the land.
Eze Ehie, who gave the caution during session in a matter between Obumeze Community and PowerGas Global Investment Nigeria Limited, declared that the community youths erred in venting out their long accumulated grievance of lack of development by the company without following due process of lodging formal complaints to relevant authorities.
He reminded the youths that ‘patience’ is a virtue that they must at all times imbibe in order to achieve their set goals and targets at all times.
The royal father assured the Igbu Orlukwor youths of his continuous support in their aspirations but if only it is lawfully, respectfully and responsively carried out without encroaching into others” rights.
According to him; “You as youths must know your bounds. I will stand by you at all times, if only you will shun violent acts. You agitate lawfully, respectfully and responsively. But, if otherwise, the law will take its course.
“A long time of depravation by a company does not mean you should not patiently follow due process in your demands and agitations. The company did not do well not to have impacted on the community since it started operations about 9years ago, but lawlessness is not the answer.
“We can achieve our craved meaningful development in atmosphere of peace, mutual understanding and co-operation. Nobody makes meaningful progress in a rancorous environment. Put yourselves in order, unite to achieve a common purpose in your developmental aspirations.”
