RIVERS MISSING PERSONS: Okporowo Community Denies Hosting Meeting

by Ajilo Innocent Okporowo, the community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, reported to have hosted the reconciliation meeting that allegedly led to the missing of two persons has denied been a host of such event.
Speaking to Journalists on Monday, September 30, 2024, the paramount ruler of Okporowo community, His Highness, Eze Ngozi Otuogwu, declared that no meeting of any sort was called in the community, adding that people should not use its name in vain to get cheap popularity.
Eze Otuogwu hinted that Okporowo community is central by its positioning and it is a gate way to other communities along the route, so dissociated it of being culpable in the issue of the missing persons from Oshiugbokor community.
“Reports got to us that two persons from Oshiugbokor community that came for a meeting are missing in my community. It is a lie.
“I want to tell the world that no meeting was held on the said day by the community, groups, nor individual. So, nobody or persons missed in Okporowo community as alleged by members of the public.
“I warn that the name of my community should not be dragged to the mud because of selfish reasons or cheap popularity by any individual(s).”
Also speaking during the media briefing, the community secretary, Chief Austine Orlu, described as the handiwork of enemies of the community and detractors, who would not want anything good from Okporowo community but would always want to tarnish the name of the community to achieve their evil aims.
He warned of dire consequences if the hatred by the people is not reversed henceforth.
Chief Orlu urged the security agencies to dig deep to reveal the circumstances and possible recovery of the missing persons.
It would be recalled that the families of two persons, Chief Elysian John and Comrade Saviour Ajikwara alleged that they are yet to either be reached on phone nor returned home after an alleged reconciliation meeting convened by one Hon. Emeka Gorden since Sunday, September 7, 2024.
The said Convener is said to have reported himself to the Police after his release by their captors.
