2 min readSolomon Tamarabrakemi Ebobrah is a Professor of Law, with specialisation in International Human Rights Law and Public Law.
An LLB graduate of the former Rivers State University of Science and Technology (now Rivers State University), he holds the BL certificate of the Nigerian Law School and is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Solomon Ebobrah also holds the LLM and LLD degrees as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCHE) of the University of Pretoria, South Africa where he is currently also a visiting Professor.
A former two time Dean of Law at the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Prof. Ebobrah has previously taught at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, the University of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and a host of other Universities.
He also briefly served as a Senior Legal Officer at the AU’s African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Banjul, the Gambia.
With research interests in the Law of International Institutions and Comparative Constitutional Law, Prof. Ebobrah has consulted for a number of international organisations including the African Court of Human and Peoples’ Rights, Arusha, Tanzania and the ECOWAS Court of Justice, Abuja, Nigeria.
He has also previously served as the Chairman of the Bayelsa State Law Review Committee as well as in other technical committees in Bayelsa State and at the Federal level.
A prolific writer, Solomon Ebobrah is also editor in a number of international journals.
Until his appointment as VC, he was the Director of the Institute for Niger Delta Studies, at Niger Delta University Wilberforce Island Bayelsa State.
