Ahoada East Chairman Charges Women To Brace Up To Responsibility As Bedrock Of Society

The Chairman of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Rivers State, Chief Hon. Ben Eke, has called on women to rise up to their responsibility as backbones and bedrocks of their families and society respectively.
Eke gave the charge on Sunday, October 29, at the 8th Biennial Anglican Women’s Guild Conference held over the weekend at St. John Anglican Church, Ihuowo Deanery, Ahoada East Local Government Area.
The Chairman, who was represented by the First Lady, Amb. Dr. Ethel Ben Eke, emphasized on the need for women to support their husbands, whom she described as Lords over them.
The 8th Biennial conference with, “Do All Things Without Grumbling,” with biblical text taken from *Philipians 2:14, was well attended by Anglican Women from Orashi Region comprised of Ahoada East, Ahoada West, Abua-Odual, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni local government areas and beyond, saw women been advised to be brave and to stop contending with their husbands.
She equally enjoined them to exemplify Christ in society, shun fear but express faith in God.
Citing bIblical injunction in the book of Joshua 1:9, the Ahoada East first lady admonished women to submit to their husbands at all times and not be anxious despite the challenges life throws at them.
Speaking earlier, the Lord Bishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Niger Delta (Ahoada Diocese), His Lordship, The Rt. Rev’d Clement N. Ekpeye, while declaring the 2023 Women’s Guild Conference open, commended the women for keeping faith and consistency with the Lord’s work and extolling godly values, noting that they are catalysts of positive changes in society.
The Deputy Governor, Rivers State , Her Excellency, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, Dssrs,, represented by the Special Adviser on Research, Mrs. Cordilia Peterside, harped on the need for women to remain exemplary and Christ-like by shunning grumbling, which she described as a distraction from the numerous blessings of God.
President of Anglican Women, Diocese of Ahoada, Mrs. Edna Clement Ekpeye (JP), the wife of the Lord Bishop Clemen, advised women against grumbling but rather hand over their problems to God in prayers as only God assures of divine help.
Mrs. Edna stated that grumbling blindfolds eyes to available help to Christian faithfuls.
She commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ben Eke, especially, the wife for the continued support of Anglican Women, especially.
The Guest Minister and Wife of The Lord Bishop of Anglican Communion, Niger Delta North, Mrs. Mercy Ihunwo, emphasized on strong faith in God to cope with the hard times facing women and others in society making clear difference between murmuring and grumbling, as the latter, is detested by even God.
She urged women to live above bar and remain relevant always by putting Christ ahead of their daily dealings.
