The founder of Diaspora for Diri (D4D) Initiative, Dr Rosalyn Dressman has stated that the people of Nembe will vote massively for His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come November 11 governorship election.
Dressman, who made the statement Wednesday, October 4, at Nembe City, Ogbolomabiri in Nembe Local Government Area during the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial campaign, insisted that His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri has created peaceful coexistence within the state.
She pointed out that the governor has done a lot for the people of Nembe, stressing that Nembe is PDP and will massively vote for Douye Diri for second tenure.
“As everybody knows, Bayelsa is a PDP state and Nembe is totally PDP, it does not matter what he (opposition) said outside there. Nembe is totally PDP, the arena is full, no way to go in and not. Everybody is home, you know campaign is from grassroots.
“The governor has been doing a lot, not only for the people of Nembe community but for the whole Bayelsa state. You can imagine somebody says Nembe has no economic value and this same person wants my vote. You can not get my vote, you cannot get the vote of everybody that is supporting Diaspora for Diri (D4D).
“We give our vote to somebody who knows that Nembe has economic value, that person is the one that get our vote and that person is Senator Douye Diri.
“Diaspora 4 Diri sole aim is to make sure the governor is voted into power, D4D is in the Eight local government areas of Bayelsa state.
Dressman, who also doubles as the Technical Assistant to the Executive Governor called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to create an enabling and peaceful environment for people to vote. She frowned at a situation where the police would be used against the electorates than otherwise.
“Am calling on the IG of Police to hold it, we want peace in Bayelsa state. We don’t want a situation where the apparatus that is suppose to protect us will be the one to bring us down.
“I believe in the power of the civil society and the police to keep that peace. This time it’s not business as usual.
The Nembe Local Government Area Coordinator of D4D, Mr. Steven Ayebanowa said: “In D4D, we are the Dispora people and we come to understand what Senator Diri has been doing for the eight local government areas of Bayelsa state, which has been a massive one.
“We believe that If we come together as group, D4D, as Dispora people to tell our people that they should know that it’s not only the community that can do it, no matter where you are, you can come and support the Diri government. You can not come and vote if you are not from Bayelsa state.
“You cannot be in Lagos and vote for Diri, you can only come to Bayelsa state to vote for him for his great works in the state. That’s why we in diaspora returned not only to vote for him but work too.”
On youths restiveness, he urged them to give peace a chance, since only peace can attract development.
He said: “I want to advice the youths of Nembe local govt area to cease away from violence because you cannot get anything from violence you can only achieve greatest when there is peace and Governor Diri is peace.
