The Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri is said to have broken records as the first to be endorsed as a sole candidate in Bayelsa State.
Chatting with journalists Wednesday, April 12th at Dr Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre, Yenagoa, Senator Elect for Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Chief Benson Sunday Agadaga described the process of his emergence as ‘seamless, amiable and peaceful.’
Agadaga, who said the feat is uncommon, added that the governor’s peaceful disposition that has transcended to the entire state made him to achieve it
“The situation is calm, the situation is amiable and the situation is full of love for our prosperity governor.
“Senator Douye Diri has been able to bring in peace in Bayelsa State. He has been steering with common understanding and love. So, the love is everywhere.
“Today, Senator Douye Diri is breaking the record of being a sole candidate in an election like this. We have not seen it in Bayelsa State before.
“Before now, people have been competing and causing crime here and there but right now, because he has been doing well in the state, everybody has given him the chance and right of first refusal. We all love him and he is performing in the state.
He denied the rumour making rounds that the governor was compensated by the national leadership for his avowed support he gave to the party’s national chairman, Senator Iyorcha Ayu during his travail, argued that nobody signified interest to contest because of the governor’s unparalleled developmental achievements.
“Somebody that has done well should be encouraged and rewarded for good work. Nobody indicated interest to contest against him. The man is doing very well and so, we just want him to go on.
The Senator Elect hinted that the governor being a silent achiever has developmentally touched every local government area of the state with the lean purse of the state, echoed that such man has to be rewarded.
“He has approved the construction of Ogu-Ayama-Yemereke road in my Ogbia Constituency. I laud him for that. He is also working on the abandoned Pavilion in Ogbia Town. Also, work is ongoing on the Nembe-Brass road project,” he pointed out.
He stressed that the ongoing road constructions the governor has embarked on will put an end to boat mishaps, sea piracy and other associated crimes.
“You must have heard of what happened recently, where a lot of lives were lost. We wouldn’t have experienced that kind of accident if there was a road. In two, three years time, we would drive to Twon Brass without seeing these casualties or being subjected to sea piracy and kidnappers.
“The governor is working on all the senatorial roads. And do not forget that the wealth of the state lies in the ocean. The blue economy of the state is in the ocean. Bayelsa State will be better off by the time the roads are ready.”
