ZAMFARA: Bandits Syndicate Neutralized, Live Ammunition, Guns Recovered

An Anti Banditry Patrol Team in Zamfara state has foiled an attempt by a notorious Bandits’ group to invade and attack some communities.

The Alhaji Bello led bandit group was said to have planned attack on some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of the state.

The state command’s Spokesman, SP Muhammad Shehu, revealed over the weekend that the Police operatives swung into action and moved to the bandit’s enclaves which led to a serious gun battle, dislodging the intent of the criminals, a situation that forced the bandits to flee with possible gunshot wounds.

Shehu hinted that one of the most wanted bandits in the camp, Isiyaku Babangida, 31yrs
of Kabe Village of Kebbi State was arrested.

“The suspect in the course of interrogation revealed how he and his group members carry Ak 47 rifles, invaded several villages in Anka, Bukkuyum, Gummi of Zamfara State and rustled unspecified number of cattles, kidnapped many innocent people and kept them in captivity until their relations paid ransom.

“The command also arrested Usman Umar aged 39yrs, a member of a notorious syndicate that specializes in spying on people at bank premises who withdraw money or does any financial transactions. His accomplice, Abdul Sun of Zaria in Kaduna State is currently at large.

“Exhibit recovered after the arrest is three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira.

“Prior to the arrest, one Nura Umar Shinkafi reported to the Police that, unknown persons broke the side glass of his car and made away with a bag containing HP Laptop Black valued at Two Hundred Fifty Thousand Naira, his I.D Card and the sum of Three Million, Four Hundred and Seventy Three Thousand Naira.

“In the cause of investigation, the suspect confessed that, they have a syndicate that specialises in monitoring customers who withdraw money in cash from banks or any financial transaction centres and then follow them until the money was snatched at all cost.

“The suspect further stated that he and his syndicate members have on several occasions perpetrated similar crime in Borno, Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto States”, the command PPRO stated.
