Negaliem Charity Foundation Gives Succour To Less Privileged . . . Calls For Support From Public Spirited Individuals, Gov’t

by Oyagiri Chime-emele A Rivers State based Non Governmental Organization (NGO)Negaliem Charity Foundation has organized its monthly outreach programme in Mile Two, Diobu and Rumuibekwe axis of the state , as it gifts the less privileged with food items, clothes and medication.
The outreach programme which is self sponsored by the founder/CEO and members of the crew is said to be targeted to ameliorate the sufferings and hardship of the downtrodden, especially the orphans, widows, destitute.
Speaking with Bochnews Correspondent on Saturday, August 27th during the outreach, Founder/CEO of the body, Mrs. Onyiri Grace stated that the Foundation cardinal responsibility is to show love to the less privileged in the society.
Expatiating further, Mrs Onyiri described orphans, widows and destitute as the set of people the organization is targeted at, stressing that external support from the government, public spirited individuals and corporate organisations would go a long way to cushion the sufferings on the streets.
She acknowledged that the government alone can not cater for all the challenges in the society , hence NGOs would fill in the gaps.
She appealed that help from legitimate sources would help in supporting the little her Foundation is doing.
Her words: “Negaliem Charity Foundation shows love to less privilege in the society, reach out to widows, orphans and aged.
“We carry out monthly outreach programme. Is a non Governmental Organizations (NGO), the government should support us to enable us do more. The more support we get, the more support we give out to the society.
“The government can not do everything. Partnering with an NGO that is up and doing will go a long way to help the people”.
At Mile Two, Diobu, the foundation’s outreach anchored the Huasa community and other residents of Gambia Street, where it tested the crowd and gave medication accordingly, with its traditional food items and clothings.
When Bochnews asked the founder/CEO of Negaliem Charity Foundation why the choice of an Huasa populated area, she said; “We chose the Hausa Community because we are one. Most of them do not have the opportunity we enjoy. I feel their plight. We are one irrespective of the geographical differences”.
A beneficiary, Yar’Aua Mohammed who spoke to our correspondent, said; “They called us to come and collect free medicine. They tested me and gave me some tablets. I did not pay. I thank them.
Another beneficiary, Ndidi Amadi, urged the people to always avail themselves of opportunities like this, where what one can not buy will be given free of charge.
She thanked the organisers of the outreach and called on government to support such laudable programme to do more to the society., added that It is not easy to do what they are doing from their pockets.
Alhaji Musa said; “The public are given free medical care. I call on the government to support programmes like this, so that more people would benefit”.
According to Gospel Ukwu, another beneficiary, “I pray for God’s empowerment for the NGO to do”.
A crew member and foundation’s health officer, Madam Margret Kpabuiche has this to say; “We come to render free medical care. The programme is self sponsored and that can not be sufficient.
“I appeal to public spirited individuals, international bodies, corporate citizens and the government to support this essential venture”.
