Bayelsa Committee on Police, Human Rights Call for Memoranda
1 min readThe Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has called on members of the public who have complaints against the police to submit their memoranda to the State Special Committee on Security, SWAT and Human Rights.
The deputy governor, who is the Chairman of the Committee directed that all such memoranda should be submitted to the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice from Tuesday the 28th of September to Thursday 30th, September, 2021.
A statement by his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi, explained that the directive is an addition to the earlier pronouncement made by Governor Douye Diri last Sunday during a Special Thanksgiving Service at the King of Glory Chapel, Government House, Yenagoa.
The statement further revealed that the new deadline for submission of memoranda is Thursday this week.
It will be recalled that the Governor had directed the committee to immediately investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of one Goodluck Oviekeme, a 27-year old youth of Biogbolo Community, allegedly in police detention.
