Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kontien area of Gboko South in Benue, were thrown into a mourning mood as a man was electrocuted while trimming an overgrown mango tree in its premises.

The victim, Iortim Richard was said to have died instantly.

A member of the church who craved anonymity said that the job of trimming the mango tree was given to him by church officials.

An eyewitness stated that the deceased had just returned from a bank where he was sent on an errand by the resident pastor of the church.

“The man was immediately electrocuted and his remains hung on the tree,” the eyewitness revealed.

It was learnt that the early intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Gboko ‘A’ Division, CSP Nerson Iorhemba, calmed the frayed nerves of angry youths.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive the report, when contacted.
