Cholera is reported to have started taken tolls in Kebbi State as more than 146 persons are said to have died.
The Chief Medical Director of Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Dr Aminu Haliru-Bunza who revealed this yesterday, August 12th, further stated that 20 of the state’s 21 local councils were grappling with the disease.
Haliru-Bunza further stated that 2,208 persons have been hospitalised, stressing that the figure cut across both sexes.
He appealed to all residents to step up personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and avoid open defecation in order to curb the spread of the disease.
In his words; “The state government has already provided equipment and drugs to all the local government areas and trained health personnel to ensure the issue is being tackled even in areas where the outbreak has not been recorded.
“Surveillance officers have been mobilised to monitor the situation while isolation camps have been set up for those infected.”
