The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada East local government area of Rivers State, Nigeria may be facing extinction if the ongoing trend of transformation is anything to go by, according to some political Pundits.
The recent visit (Saturday, March 20) to the ancient, oil and gas rich Ogbele community by the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Amaechi to honour a political friend, High Chief Salvation Ezegwogwo is said to be causing ripples across political landscape in the LGA.
Amaechi during the brief visit said; “I am in the community to honour an invitation by my political friend. I have come. I have seen.
“I will leave from here for Ahoada Town, thereafter, i will leave for Omoku for Town Hall meetings. Your brother will address you. He will take care of you.”
Reacting to the visit, High Chief Salvation Ezegwogwo reminded Boch News of his promise to decapitate PDP in Ahoada East local government area before the end of this year, on the day of his decamping.
According to him; “I made a promise on the day i joined APC last year, that PDP in Ahoada East local government area will be depleted by number before the end of this year. I stand by my promise.
“The project has began. Everyone can see the results we are getting (pointing at the crowd that besieged the registration and revalidation officers).”
The business mogul assured new members of being treated as equals, adding that what counts is dedication, committement and responsiveness.
According to him; “It is time to end the era of much talk or eye service without working our talk. Let every Party faithful work to earn his/her sit. Only those who are passive members that will have cause to complain.”
Ezegwogwo enjoined members to be committed to the ideals of the party, as according to him; “God has positioned APC to take over Brick House come 2023, God willing.”
The philanthropic politician charged them to always preach the gospel of change with the broom symbolizing sweeping the dirts the opposition has littered the State with.
He said; “Be bold in preaching the gospel of change as it will take us to the next level. Be committed to Party ethos by remaining united and resolute at all times. Continue to put your faith in God Almighty.”
A political gladiator who craved for anonymity described the visit to Ogbele community by the Minister for Transportation and former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi as a strategy to draw him closer to the people.
According to him; “This visit today is like a catalyst. It will endear the grassroot to him, especially because he came without any event. He just visited to honour a friend (High Chief Salvation Ezegwogwo).”
Another politician who ironically is a member of the ruling PDP, who simply identified himself as Amuso told our correspondent that; “We heard about the coming, thought it was a rumour. He truly came. It was a catastrophic political stroke.
“We lost most of our members today after the visit. People rushed to register with APC. Though, it is not over, till it is over.”
Boch News investigation revealed that there was a large crowd that went for membership registration and revalidation immediately after the August visit.
