ANAMBRA ELECTION 2021: APC Group Warns Against Imposition Of Candidate

Critical stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State under the auspices of APC Patriots have warned against the temptation of anointing anybody as a consensus candidate for the November 6 governorship election.
The APC Patriots said a credible, rancour free primary election was a sine qua non for an APC victory in the governorship election.
The stakeholders who made the statement in Abuja, alleged that adopting any of those aspiring for the party ticket might cause the party the governorship seat, while allowing a level playing field was one of the conditions for winning the poll by the party.
The statement which was signed by the Coordinator, Dozie Ikedife and spokesman, Victor Afam Ogene, the APC Patriots said contrary to insinuations, the mode of primaries to be adopted must be jointly agreed on by stakeholders and the aspirants.
“As a people desirous of bringing our dear state, Anambra, into national focus – after about 15 years of being on the fringes of regional politics – we urge the APC family, from the zone to the national, not to pander to filial affiliations that may truncate the genuine quest of our people to produce an APC administration in Anambra.
“To do otherwise will further alienate our long suffering. In prosecuting the Anambra governorship election, therefore, care must be taken by all strata of the party leadership so that we can avoid the pitfalls, which made the party to lose Zamfara, Rivers and Bayelsa states.
“We, therefore, urge aspirants to roll up their sleeves and seek people’s endorsement, instead of hoping to be beneficiaries of a curious anointment.
“For the avoidance of doubt, APC Patriots, Anambra chapter, has resolved to – work with other party stalwarts who desire equity, justice and fairness – work assiduously against any shenanigan that will stand in the way of an APC victory on November 6,” it said.
Some members of the group include former House of Representatives members, Chukwuemeke Nwogbo and Chizor Obidigwe, APC South East Zonal Youth Leader, Olisa Onyeka, communications specialist, Ike Chidolue, business tycoon, Chidi Ogbaji and Mike Mbanefo, a lawyer, among others.
