The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of Zone 16, Austin Agbonlahor has said that the rank of a Police retiree is not a barrier to being a beneficiary in the National Health Insurance Scheme of the force.
The Zonal Police Boss made the statement in a press release signed by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), CSP Ikwo Kevin Lafieghe in Yenagoa recently.
The statement said that the scheme is aimed at ensuring that all retired police officers are not denied access to quality and sustainable health care services.
The AIG called on retired police officers that were not captured in the first phase of the scheme to avail themselves of the opportunity the phase 2 had presented.
It added that the national registration and capturing exercise will commence from Monday, March 15th to Thursday, March 18th, 2021 across the Zone.
He enjoined the affected retired officers to visit the closest Police Area Command in their State of residence for enrollment, with their letter of retirement and retiree’s Identification card.
The Police National Health Insurance Scheme is said to be an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar to cushion the health challenges of retired Police Officers and their spouses.
Zone 16 comprises of Bayelsa and Rivers States, with Yenagoa as the Headquarters.
