PDP Rejects Fuel Price Increase
1 min readThe Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to reverse the recent price increase of petrol.
The call was made through a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan on Friday, 13th November, 2020.
The main opposition party, which rejected the fuel pump price increase, said the action is unbearable for Nigerians considering the prevailing economic challenges the masses are facing.
The statement further noted that a new price increase would worsen the already bad economic situation in the country, noting that, there is no justification for the pump price increase by the APC-led – government.
According to him, government had not been open on the parameters being used to hike the price of petrol considering Nigeria’s production, export and the revenue accruing to the country.
He also noted that the country’s production capacity is still shrouded in secrecy, adding that government’s failure to fix refineries had also contributed to the nation’s woes.
The PDP also said the mismanagement of the nation’s oil resources was responsible for the hardship being faced by citizens who can barely meet their financial obligations.
Ologbondiyan called on President Buhari to fulfill his campaign promises to revamp the nation’s refineries and also recruit competent persons to manage the oil sector.
