The Olujare of Ijare Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun, Kokotiri ll has declared that he has lost confidence in the entity called Nigeria.
The monarch made the declaration in his palace during a media chat with Boch News.
Oba Oluwagbemigun, who queried the manner politicians run the country without an iota of truth and honesty, noted that based on what is happening in the nation, the future looks bleak.
“Our problems is from the politicians. They are not honest, truthful and sincere to the people. They always think of themselves than the people’s well-being,” he said.
He recalled the days of the nation’s founding fathers, where the interest, welfare and development of the people was a priority.
According to him; “The West will not be what it is today if not for Pa Awo’s selfless services to humanity. But the reverse is the situation today. It is pathetic.”
The monarch who has been on the throne for more than 22years called for a change of the structure of Nigeria, adding that the only panacea to the anomaly is to return to regionalism.
“Except we return to regionalism where each region governs itself at its pace according to available resources, Nigeria will not move forward.
“As long as the practice of unitary government, instead of true federalism is practiced, we can not move forward other than the annual ritual celebration of additional number.
Oba Oluwagbemigun warned that if something positive is not done quickly, the country may not survive, but added that he does not see the possibility of another civil war.
On the just concluded election, he said, “I thank God that it ended peacefully and a winner has emerged. I was scared before the election proper. I had to invite the major players in my kingdom for talks. Am happy it yielded the desired result.”
