Delta Police Command Declares Ex- Minister Wanted … as Gbagi Procures Court Restraining Order
2 min readThe Delta State Police Command has declared a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria wanted over alleged inhuman treatment he meted on four of his employees.
A press statement issued by the police command through the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said the former minister, Mr Kenneth Gbagi was invited by the police for questioning, but failed to honour the invitation.
The statement said, “Kenneth Gbagi personally and severally called and gave the excuse that he has a burial ceremony of his elder sister on Friday, September 25, 2020 in which he is a key player and asked for time to finish with the ceremony on Sunday, thereafter will report at the state Headquarters on Monday, September 28 2020. The requests were granted on humanitarian ground.”
According to the release, Gbagi called again on Monday, September, 28 2020 requesting for more time that he had a court case to attend to, and promised to report to the police by 3:00pm, which he failed to honour.
“On the same date, the Commisioner of Police had to call him at about 5:00pm before the same Kenneth Gbagi said he was on his way to the State Headquarters, Asaba.
Sadly and unfortunately Kenneth Gbagi still failed to report, instead, he went into the public space to disparage, blackmail and maligned the person of the Commisioner of Police and the Nigeria Police Force, Delta State Command for insisting on investigating him”.
The police said, having failed to honour his promises, they were left with no option than to declare Gbagi wanted.
The statement enjoined members of the public with useful information of the former minister’s whereabouts to contact the police.
Gbagi was alleged to have ordered some of his employees, three females and a male to be stripped naked and physically assaulted because of an alleged case of stealing in his hotel, Signatious Hotel.
Meanwhile, Mr Gbagi has obtained a court order restraining the police from arresting him.
