A group, Ekpeye Oil and Gas Pipelines Host Families Association (EOG), has reiterated its resolve to put to an end oil pipelines vandalism and attendant economic sabotage, if given the opportunity by the oil companies.
The National Chairman of EOG, Comrade Chidi Dogini, made the remarks in a speech during the group’s first anniversary celebration. He noted that the issue of illegal bunkering will be a thing of the past if the group’s proposal is accepted and worked with by the oil and gas companies.
He added that the group has come to sanitize the system, whereby whatever is due Ekpeye ethnic nation can not be denied it.
Dogini said the group was ready to cooperate and work in synergy with other bodies in Ekpeye Land to achieve desired results , as against the ‘Pull him down’ syndrome that has costed the land much in the past.
He assured the elite and traditional rulers of the group’s commitment to stop all forms of continued enslavement, molestation, deprivation and harassment from either the oil companies or otherwise.
He cautioned the selfish few that have been conniving with the companies to cheat Ekpeye people to desist from such dastardly acts.
Dogini advised those whose antics is to use security agencies through fictitious allegations against the ideals of EOG to desist from such acts. He added that the gods of Ekpeye land will not spare them if they continue.
Dogini said, “I call on my brothers and sisters whose stock in trade is to selfishly poach on the common wealth of Ekpeye ethnic Nation to desist forthwith. It is evil, dastard and wicked.
“For how long must the people continue to suffer? The space is large enough to contain all, why standing as a stumbling block against your people and the land”
“We have all what it takes for everyone to be comfortable. It is understanding and cooperation we need. We can not continue to wallow in poverty when we are landlord to seven oil companies.
The EOG National Chairman acknowledged the possible challenges ahead. He said, “Change can not come without challenges from those who have been benefitting selfishly. We are aware, it is surmountable”.
He called on the oil and gas companies operating in Ekpeye land to jettison the old tradition of ‘divide and rule’. Dogini added that all legal means will be explored to stop operations of any company that is bent on causing crisis in the land instead of doing the needful.
Dogini urged the youths to remain calm but resolute, as according to him, “All employment, women empowerment, skill acquisitions programmes and scholarships due you will get to you at the appropriate time”.
