Alleged Theft: SARS Official, 2 Others in Police Net
2 min readRIVERS STATE: The Divisional Police Headquarters, Mile 1 Diobu Port Harcourt, has detained a man said to be a personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and two others over allegation of burglary and theft
Sources said the security personnel, simply known as Inspector Usman had requested a Vigilante official to foot the bill he incurred at a restaurant, but the vigilante man refused to pay as there was no prior agreement.
It revealed that the man’s refusal to pay for the drinks consumed by the SARS Official led to disagreement between the two security officials.
The source further disclosed that the SARS Official and two of his civilian friends allegedly broke into the house of the vigilante personnel at about 2am on Thursday while he was not at home.
It was gathered that the vigilante man reported the matter at the Mile 1 police station the following day which led to the arrest of the SARS personnel and his friends.
Confirming the story, the Vigilante official said that #280,000 that was paid to him as the caretaker of the building was missing after his house was broken into by the officer and his friends.
The vigilante personnel revealed that he is not interested in prosecuting the case, but that the missing money should be paid and his destroyed property be fixed.
Efforts to get confirmation from the Rivers State Police Command Spokesman, Superintendent of Police Nnamdi Omoni proved abortive as he failed to pick his calls.
