NDPR Operates Non Functional MoU – EOG National Chairman

The National Chairman of Ekpeye Oil and Gas Pipelines Host Families Association, Comrade Chidi Dogini, has revealed that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) supposedly written and signed between Niger Delta Petroleum Resources (NDPR) and the host communities of Ogbele, Obumeze and Oshigbokor respectively is non functional.
Dogini while chatting with newsmen in his Ahoada office, said “NDPR is full of the Nigerian mentality. It employs divide and rule tactics in order to carry out its operations. You have an MoU with the host communities, but how functional is it?”
“No family in the host communities has sighted a copy since the acclaimed signing of the MoU. Funny enough, the leadership of the communities can not boast of having a copy.” He asserted.
The National Chairman of EOG urged the Company to make public the MoU for proper monitoring and compliance aimed at driving in the desired development to the Families, Communities, Kingdom and Ekpeye Ethnic nation.
Dogini reiterated the readiness and preparedness of EOG to address the defiance of the oil companies in complying with the social contract; as the company Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is marred with irregularities and flagrant disregard to the host families and communities.
“What baffles me most is that, it is same story with all the companies operating in Ekpeye Land”, he fumed.
The EOG Boss urged NDPR to make public the signed MoU since it is supposed to be a public document and be treated as such.
He said the open display of the MoU will make it possible for monitoring of its implementation and compliance in line with the yearning and aspiration of the people.
The dogged chairman called on well meaning individuals who have the interest of their people at heart to join hands in checkmating the absurdity.
He advised the families and communities involved to resist the temptation of settling for less, as the Ekpeye Oil and Gas (EOG) is ready to ensure the strict compliance of the MoU signed with a view of making it functional for even development across the Host Families, Communities, Kingdoms and Ekpeye Ethnic Nation.
Dogini added that the communities should be wise enough not to play in to the ‘divide and rule’ antics devised by oil companies to destabilize people in order to exploit oil unchecked.
He called on the companies operating in Ekpeye Land to stop the ‘divide and rule’ methods employed, as the people have started realizing themselves for being used against their conscience.
The Oil and Gas activist also enjoined their corporate tenants to make use of the Local Content Act that would foster lasting peace in their operations.
“We will continue to engage the oil and gas companies to adhere strictly to the Local Content Act, as a group.
“We are at the same time, calling on our youths to eschew destruction of oil and gas facilities,” he added.
He asserted that the destruction of Oil and Gas facilities is an act of sabotage against the Federal Government and advised aggrieved individuals or group to channel their complaints to EOG.
Attempts to reach the oil company to get her reaction were not successful at the time of filing this report.
